Color CCTV Security Cameras

Color CCTV security cameras have narrowed the price gap between them and B/W CCTV cameras and today, some of our color CCTV security cameras are as light sensitive as B/W security cameras. Because color video is more lifelike than B/W and provides much more positive identification, most CCTV security cameras purchased today are color units, although sometimes changing to B/W in very low light conditions in order to still provide useable video.

Mini-Dome Security Cameras and mini-Cameras: Mini-domes and mini-cameras are not normally weatherproof, cannot be fit into a housing and are therefore normally used inside. These cameras usually have fixed focal length, fixed iris lenses but some have vari-focal, auto iris lenses. Some of these cameras have Infra Red (I.R.) emitting LEDs to provide useable, human eye invisible, illumination in even total darkness.

Long Body (Box) and Zoom Security Cameras: Long body (or Box) CCTV cameras use interchangeable lenses. Lenses are normally an industry stand “CS mount” but “C mount” lenses can be used with the additional lens mounting ring provided with each camera. Lenses can be fixed or vari-focal length; fixed iris, manual iris or auto-iris. Camera controls may be DIP switches or On Screen Display (OSD) buttons at the back of the camera. These switches allow control of shuttering (ALC for auto-iris, AES for all other lenses), Back lighting (BLC), Gain Control (AGC), White Balance (ATW/AWC) and several other functions. In addition, special function cameras such as Wide Dynamic Range, Starlight and Backlight Rejection cameras are provided as long body cameras. Long body cameras can be used indoors with mounting brackets or outdoors in weatherproof housings.

Infra Red Cameras: Infra Red (IR) illumination can allow CCTV cameras with IR sensitive CCD chips to produce useable video images in light conditions down to complete darkness. Infra Red radiation is invisible to the human eye. Images produced under IR illumination are monochromatic (Black and White) only.
